Loris Azzaro

LORIS AZZARO 1970s Vintage Beaded Gold-Tone Crochet & Metal Chainmail Top or Jacket Size S

Metallic crochet tops with chainmail elements and beaded details belong to Loris Azzaro's ultimate classics, and this particular version from the early 1970s is the most intricate and elaborate one you could possibly find.

The top is crocheted from a gold metallic lurex yarn with gold- and copper-tone chainmail sleeves, long chainmail fringes all around the hemline and beaded adornments all-over - please have a look at the images to get an impression of those fantastic details. The top features a fitted cut with long sleeves and closes at the center front with hidden snap buttons. It has substantial weight due to the chainmail elements and is an incredibly glamorous piece. Made in France.

The first three reference pictures from c. 1971 show Tina Turner in similar Loris Azzaro chainmail outfits performing on stage and during a fitting - Azzaro's glamorous and sexy designs were the artist's go-to stage look in the early 1970s. Nelly Furtado donned a Loris Azzaro chainmail top for her "Promiscuous" music video (2006) which shows how great these pieces look in movement. Similar Loris Azzaro chainmail tops were featured in the iconic Helmut Newton editorial with Willy van Rooy for Nova Magazine, April 1973.
