COMME DES GARÇONS

Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons is one of the pioneers of Japanese avant-garde fashion, with a body of work spanning five decades. Her designs challenged conventional ideas of beauty and garment construction, characterised by sculptural forms, deconstruction, distortion, and unconventional silhouettes. Kawakubo’s work has consistently questioned established notions of fashion and challenged the conventions of the industry. Her ability to anticipate new directions in fashion and develop ideas ahead of their time has made her one of the most influential designers of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
