The German fashion and lifestyle magazine Elegante Welt was founded in 1911 and combined national and international high fashion and high society topics with sophisticated iamgery by renowned German photographers such as F. C. Gundlach, Regina Relang, and Willy Maywald, as well as by international artists such as Louise Dahl-Wolfe, Lillian Bassman, Richard Avedon, Melvin Sokolsky, Tom Palumbo, and Gleb Derujinsky (the group that photographed for Harper's Bazaar US). In 1969, the magazine was merged with the German edition of Madame.
