This rare and iconic Gucci by Tom Ford underwear set from the late 1990s or early 2000s comprises a wired bra and a g-string. Both pieces are made of black mesh fabric and feature gold-tone metal parts with iconic GG logo details. 90% nylon, 10% elasthane. Made in Italy.
When Tom Ford first created the GG g-string and sent it down the runway as part of Gucci's very sexy Spring 1997 collection, it caused quite a media stir, but, as Kyle Munzenrieder writes in W magazine, "Instantly, the g-string went from a bit of a taboo (if not trashy) underwear-drawer secret to high-fashion respectability." It garnered a lot of attention recently when Kim Kardashian posted a selfie wearing this design on her Instagram account (see reference picture, August 2018). A version of this design also resides in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
