This striking vintage Angelo Tarlazzi cocktail dress dates from the Spring 1990 Collection and is a particularly characteristic example of the designer’s work from this period.
Made from vibrant orange silk taffeta, the dress features a graphic ethnic-inspired print and a distinctly playful, body-conscious silhouette with a fitted bustier bodice reinforced with boning. The dress is closely fitted through the body and gathered throughout, ending in a very short mini length.
The defining design element is at the back, where the fabric is gathered and tied into three oversized bows, a signature detail frequently associated with Angelo Tarlazzi’s designs of the period. The bows are wrapped with black raffia, further emphasizing the ethnic character of the print. The construction creates two cut-out sections at the back, revealing the skin in a playful and sensual way. The lower cut-out is particularly striking, creating a daring back view.
The dress closes at the side with a zipper and metal hook-and-eye fastening. 100% silk, fully lined. Made in France and hand-numbered 2208.
