GIANNI VERSACE c. Spring 1984 Oroton Chainmail Halterneck Dress Size S

This incredibly rare and iconic vintage Gianni Versace dress from around Spring 1984 is made from the designer's emblematic Oroton metal, with a greenish ruthenium front and a brownish ruthenium back. The dress has a blue silk halter neck, a waterfall neckline on front and back with beautifully draped Oroton, and two blue and green striped silk panels at the side. Pointed hem, longer at back, side slit. The dress closes with a strong velcro closure at the side and hidden snaps and hooks and eyes at the neck. Internal elastic waistband. Substantial weight. 100% aluminum and 100% silk. Made in Italy. An instantly recognizable and highly collectible early Versace piece.

CONDITION
Presents beautifully, but has general signs of wear consistent with age as well as some smaller imperfections and two more substantial flaws as follow. Due to the heavy weight of the dress and its construction, there is a longer tear in the metal (about 4 cm/1.6") at waist level on either side, on the left side with the stitching of the silk unraveling in that area, on the right side right next to the velcro closure, as well as small damage at the neckline in the front and under the arm respectively. On the mannequin, these damages disappear in the drapes of the metal. A few minimal imperfections to the mesh overall. The silk has general signs of wear consistent with age (a pin hole, some color fading, etc.).
