This rare and highly collectible Givenchy Couture dress from Alexander McQueen’s Fall 1999 collection is a documented runway piece (look 33) that reflects the sharp, sculptural approach that characterized his work.
The design features an off-the-shoulder cut with an unusual asymmetrical pointed neckline and long off-the-shoulder sleeves. The skirt is finished with side slits for movement. Inside, the dress is expertly constructed with a built-in lightly boned bodice and an internal waist stay for a secure fit. 100% silk, lined in silk. Made in France.
A striking example of Alexander McQueen’s tenure at Givenchy Couture, and a particularly compelling piece for collectors of his late-1990s work.
CONDITION
The dress is in excellent vintage condition with only minimal signs of wear and age to the fabric. There is some light creasing, which is characteristic of silk organza. There is also a very small flaw in the cream-white edging at the side of the skirt, visible in the last photo.
