This striking vintage Jean Paul Gaultier pantsuit from the 2000s is designed in a distinctive pajama-inspired style and makes for an exceptionally unusual statement piece.
The set consists of a matching jacket and pants, both crafted from cotton in a tartan-inspired checked pattern in red, black, and a golden tone on a white ground. The jacket features a black satin collar and beautifully crafted satin-covered buttons at the front. It has two patch pockets at the front and a chest pocket embellished with an elaborate heraldic crest-style patch featuring flags, crowns, and other decorative motifs. Cut long and strongly tailored, the jacket is fitted through the waist and narrow around the hips. Particularly distinctive are the shirred seams running all around the jacket, including the sleeves. The back of the jacket features the Jean Paul Gaultier signature loop.
The matching high-waisted pants are designed in a minimalist pajama style, tapering towards the hem and finished with turn-ups for an approximately 7/8-length silhouette. They feature belt loops and fasten with a zipper and button closure. No pockets.
100% cotton, satin detailing 50% silk, 50% bemberg. The suit is unlined. Both pieces are beautifully tailored and exceptionally well made, with meticulously finished interior seams and edges. Made in Italy by Gibo.

CONDITION
Excellent vintage condition, very fresh and barely worn, if at all. The original Jean Paul Gaultier hangtag and the fabric composition label of the jacket are included separately. The upper outer corner of the patch appears slightly loose and could easily be secured with a few stitches. Mentioned for completeness.
