This striking John Galliano evening dress dates from his iconic Fall 1998 Collection. A version of this design was worn on the runway by Eva Herzigova.
The construction consists of two layers: a bottom layer made from an ombré knit that transitions beautifully from soft lilac to deep purple, and a delicate black lace overlay. The silhouette is defined by a daringly plunging neckline at both the front and back, while fourteen lace-covered buttons at the side add a distinctive Galliano detail. The dress perfectly captures the theatrical elegance of Galliano’s work from this period.
Main fabric: 86% rayon, 7% mohair, 5% nylon, 2% acrylic. Lace: 60% rayon, 40% nylon. Made in Italy.
CONDITION
The dress is in excellent vintage condition. The shoulder straps are quite long and have become slightly stretched over time, so they may need to be shortened for a better fit.
