PRADA Spring 1997 1990s Vintage Chinoiserie Red Leaf Print Silk Dress
PRADA Spring 1997 1990s Vintage Chinoiserie Red Leaf Print Silk Dress
One of the house's most iconic and instantly recognizable designs, this vintage Prada dress from their Spring 1997 collection is crafted from a soft, thick and incredibly lustrous silk in a deep crimson red with the famous leaf pattern.
Reflecting the minimalism of the 1990s, the sleeveless tailored dress features a simple but nonetheless stunning Chinoiserie-inspired design with a single-button mandarin collar and finishes just below the knee, with a high slit at either side of the skirt. Side zip closure. 100% silk, fully lined in a silky red 60% rayon, 40% silk blend. Made in Italy.
The leaf pattern was heavily featured on the runway (reference photos with Amber Valletta, Guinevere van Seenus and Kirsten Owen via Vogue Runway) and in the ad campaign with Amber Valletta, shot by Glen Luchford as well as in an editorial with Kate Moss. Gwyneth Paltrow wore the design at a movie premiere in NYC in March 1997.
