This iconic and highly collectible Alexander McQueen top from the Fall 1998 "Joan" collection, which drew on themes of martyrdom and persecution, features a black and white photo print of the Russian Imperial Romanov children, fully covered in clear sequins. The Romanov children tragically ended up being murdered together with their parents Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra by the Bolsheviks in 1918.

The top features cap sleeves and closes with a silver-tone metal zipper through the entire back. 50% polyester, 50% acetate. Fully lined in silky black signature lining. Made in Italy. Runway pictures via Vogue Runway.

An identical top is held by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London - please visit their site for the intriguing background story of creating this piece.
