Vintage 1980s Azzedine Alaïa coffee-brown panelled leather cut-out mini skirt. A rare collectible bodycon piece from the second half of the 1980s.
This exceptional vintage Azzedine Alaïa leather skirt, dating from the second half of the 1980s, is crafted from first-class coffee-brown smooth leather with a soft, supple feel and subtle sheen. The quality of the leather and the precision of the construction are outstanding, showcasing Alaïa’s signature approach to creating highly feminine, sensual silhouettes.
The skirt has a close-fitting, figure-defining silhouette ending above the knee and is constructed from eight individual leather panels, with the front and back identically designed. The panels are vertically connected by metal-like cords and equally connected at the hem. Their distinctive scalloped, tooth-like edges interlock with these cords while allowing the panels a certain degree of movement when worn, creating a striking and subtly revealing cut-out effect.
The skirt fastens at the front side with a Riri zipper and a concealed button. Made from 100% leather and fully lined in 100% silky acetate. Made in France.
A highly collectible example of 1980s Alaïa design that unites the designer's signature leather with his precisely tailored, ultra-feminine aesthetic.
CONDITION
Excellent vintage condition with only minimal signs of wear. The leather remains very fresh. There is one small mark in the leather approximately at the centre front, as shown in the detail picture.
