CHANEL by Karl Lagerfeld Fall 1991 Vintage Black Silk Evening Dress Runway Piece

It's all in the details with this stunning short evening dress from Karl Lagerfeld's fall 1991 collection for Chanel. This little black dress is extremely cleverly constructed - please see the pictures to get an idea of how the textured black silk and relatively stiff black grosgrain trim are cut and fitted together to form this feather-light gown, which at the same time retains its incredible volume and three-dimensional shape.

The dress has a sexy deep v-neckline with masterfully placed pleats and a silk bow on either side. The fitted waist is held in place by internal hooks and eyes. The long sleeves each finish with three silk covered buttons and slit cuffs. The dress closes at the front with discreet buttons engraved with "Chanel Paris" on the gold-tone metal sides. The knee length skirt is flared and voluminous. No fabric label, main fabric probably 100% silk, bodice lined with CC signature silk, skirt and sleeves unlined.
