CHRISTIAN LACROIX Fall 1999 Vintage Oversized Floral Silk Evening Coat One-Size

This extraordinary vintage Christian Lacroix evening coat from Fall 1999 is made of heavy black silk with a bold floral print in vibrant pink. It features a spectacular, incredibly oversized cut, extremely wide and sculptural, reminiscent of the silhouette of the late 1950s. The silk is backed throughout with some kind of mesh or similar material, adding a certain stiffness to the coat and ensuring it retains its voluminous shape beautifully. It is a substantial piece, in reality even much more impressive than in the pictures.

The coat has an unusual collar and beautiful detailing at the shoulders and back. It fastens with four concealed snap buttons. 100% silk, fully lined in fine silk. The overall impression of this sensational piece reminds us of Rei Kawakubo's Comme des Garçons iconic flat, oversized 2D designs from Fall 2012. A show-stopping coat, theatrical, dramatic and elegant as can be, a remarkable Christian Lacroix design and highly collectible.

CONDITION
Very good vintage condition. Please note slight signs of wear (a few small holes, see label picture) to the delicate silk lining, probably due to the weight of the coat. Apart from minimal creases (judging by the catwalk photo quasi inherent to the fabric), the upper silk is flawless. Please note, however, that we have not had this piece dry-cleaned due to its unique structure and volume.
