HERMÈS c. 1957 Vintage Silk Day Dress "La Marine en Bois" by Hugo Grygkar
HERMÈS c. 1957 Vintage Silk Day Dress "La Marine en Bois" by Hugo Grygkar
This rare and absolutely amazing vintage Hermès summer dress from the late 1950s is crafted from the house's typical silk twill featuring Hugo Grygkar's "La Marine en Bois" nautical print from 1957 in shades of red, blue and yellow against an off-white background and hand-applied red v-shaped edges. The bias-cut dress features an easy to wear sleeveless cut with a high neckline and a slightly flared knee-length skirt. May be worn with or without its original belt. The dress slips on to wear and closes with a row of 10 original round silk-covered buttons on the top of the left shoulder. The dress is very typical of its time in regards to the beautiful print and the execution - it was largely done by hand, and its interior seams tell a lot about the attention to detail that went into its creation. Lined in white silk. Made in France. An ultra-rare and very collectible early Hermès dress.
