NINA RICCI Vintage Couture Red Silk Chiffon Evening Dress w/ Royal Provenance

NINA RICCI Vintage Couture Red Silk Chiffon Evening Dress w/ Royal Provenance

This stunning vintage Nina Ricci Haute Boutique evening dress comes with the royal provenance of Edda-Marie Prinzessin von Erbach-Schönberg, born in 1930 as the daughter of Georg Ludwig Fürst von Erbach-Schönberg and Marie-Marguerite von Deringer and as a cousin of the former Dutch Queen Juliana. In 1951 she married the German sculptor Karl Josef Dierkes with whom she had four children. They divorced in 1960. Edda-Marie made a name for herself as a jewelry designer and lived in Darmstadt. She died in 1993. The dress is made of a true and deep red silk chiffon and features a wonderful cut with an unusual collar that buttons at the back of the neck, draped fabric across the bust area and a widely flared skirt with a spectacular hem circumference of almost six meters/seven yards that sits a few inches below the knee. It comes with a matching scarf that can be worn as a belt or as a stole. The dress was sewn by hand and features wonderful couture seams and an internal waist stay. It closes at the back with a metal zipper and a metal hook and eye as well as with three silk-covered buttons at the back of the neck. 100% silk, fully lined in a red crêpe. Made in France.
