This documented vintage cocktail or party dress from c. Fall 1967, a rare and early design for the Rive Gauche Prêt-à-Porter line that was launched in 1966, is a wonderful example of the minimalist and utterly chic brocade dresses Yves Saint Laurent did at that time. It features a very typical 1960s cut with clean lines and is crafted from a lightly padded apple green silk that is shot with pale gold metal threads forming a four leaf clover design. Please have a close look at the detail pictures to get an impression of how beautiful and multidimensional this fabric is. The short-sleeved dress runs fitted through shoulders and bust area and then flares out into a short skirt that finishes above the knee. It retains its original Éclair zipper and original hand-set lining. Many hand-finished details. No material tag. Made in France.

Early Saint Laurent pieces from the Rive Gauche line are coveted collector's items and harder and harder to come by which currently reflects in a significant increase in auction prices. This dress would make a wonderful addition to any vintage collection, especially as a beaded version of this dress was featured in a spectacular editorial shot with Veruschka von Lehndorff which provides beautiful documentation.
