Capes played a major role in Yves Saint Laurent's oeuvre and appeared in many of his collections over the decades. This rare example, c. late 1970s/Russian Collection period, is made of warm black wool (mohair or like material with the typical fluffy structure) and features a large black velvet collar and the typical braided trim all along the edges - one of YSL's signature design elements. The cape closes with two long twisted cords with tassels. No material tag. Unlined. Made in France. Reference picture no. 1 with Catherine Deneuve, 1970, picture no. 2 Yves Saint Laurent, 1973, picture no. 3 Yves Saint Laurent via L'Officiel Paris, 1977.
