This early Yves Saint Laurent safari piece - a style that was first launched in 1967 and quickly became one of the house's signature designs - dates from 1969 and comprises a lace-up top and flared pants. Both pieces are crafted from a very dark green, almost black panne velvet, lush and super soft. The long tunic top features long sleeves and the instantly recognizable signature lace-up front, the pants widely flared legs and a zipper closure. Unlined. Made in France. Loulou de la Falaise wore a version of this ensemble when photographed by Patrick Lichfield in 1969, a well-known and truly iconic reference picture. This museumworthy set is in remarkable condition.
